You trust us with your home, your keys and your travel dates. This page explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, and how we protect it.
Last updated 11 August 2026Away & Okay ("we", "us") is a home care service based in Carnegie, Melbourne, providing weekly home visits, photo reports and inspection logs for homeowners while they travel. You can contact us about anything in this policy at hello@awayandokay.com.au.
We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). We apply those standards regardless of whether the small business exemption technically applies to us — the nature of our work means you should expect nothing less.
When you request a quote, we collect what you enter in the form: your name, suburb, trip length, property type and bedrooms, the plan you're considering, your home insurer (if you choose to tell us), your email address or phone number, and anything you add in the notes — often travel dates.
If you become a client, we also collect and hold:
When you email or call us, we keep the correspondence so we have an accurate record of what was agreed.
We do not sell personal information, and we don't use your details for marketing unrelated to our own service. We won't add you to any mailing list you didn't ask to join.
Beyond that, we disclose personal information only if the law requires it.
Keys are stored off-site under a coded system and never labelled with an address. Access details and alarm codes are kept separately from anything that identifies the property. Photos, reports and inspection logs are held in access-controlled accounts. Our keepers are police-checked, and we hold public liability insurance — certificates are shown to you before you hand over a key.
Visit photos and inspection logs are retained for 7 years, because they may matter to an insurance claim long after your trip. If you request a quote and don't proceed, we delete your enquiry details within 12 months. Keys are returned at the end of your service, and access details and alarm codes are deleted when the service ends unless you ask us to keep them for a future trip.
You can ask at any time to see the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it (subject to records we're required to keep). Email hello@awayandokay.com.au and we'll respond within 30 days.
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, tell us first and we'll do our best to put it right. You can also complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
If we change this policy, we'll update this page and the date at the top. Material changes that affect current clients will be notified directly.
